Applying for a certificate of conduct (VOG)

Do you have a new job? In many cases, you will need a certificate of conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, VOG) – for example, if you will be working with children or confidential details. You may also need a VOG if you want to apply for a visa or work permit. This page tells you how to apply for a VOG.

Applying for a VOG if you are registered with a municipality

Find out how to apply for a VOG in your situation:

  • Applying for a VOG for a new job
    Do you need a VOG for a new job, volunteer work or an assignment as a self-employed person? Your employer or client will start the application. This can be done online or in writing. Go to Justis.nl to find out how to apply for a VOG online or in writing (in Dutch) and what is expected from you. 
  • Applying for a VOG for a visa or work permit
    Do you need a VOG for a visa or work permit for another country? Complete the Application form Certificate of conduct (VOG) and hand it in to your municipality. You must also hand in a document from your embassy or consulate. This document must explain why you need a VOG.

Applying for a VOG if you are not registered with a municipality

Are you not registered with a municipality and do you not have a Dutch postal address or fixed place of residence? This makes you a ‘non-resident’. Find out how to apply for a VOG as a non-resident.
