Meet the Government of the Netherlands at World Water Week 2025
World Water Week 2025 will take place from 24-28 August 2025 in Stockholm and is a key event for the Government of the Netherlands to engage on water issues, bring innovative solutions, and learn from others. The government will host and co-host a variety of sessions and activities as outlined below—some of which will be accessible online. Important network opportunities include the Netherlands Booth, a vibrant space for knowledge exchange, and the annual reception at the Embassy of the Netherlands.
This year’s conference theme is climate action, with a focus on addressing the interconnected emergencies of climate change, environmental degradation and biodiversity loss, emphasising both mitigation and adaptation, alongside the broader goal of enhancing resilience.
The Government of the Netherlands’ sessions will spotlight the urgent need to restore the global hydrological cycle through just and equitable water governance. Backed by the Global Commission on the Economics of Water (GCEW), and drawing on centuries of water management expertise, the Netherlands will champion integrated solutions that link water to climate action, food systems, energy and biodiversity.
Embracing synergies and encouraging sustainable integration across sectors requires everyone to play their part and engage in multi-sectoral collaboration. Therefore, the Government of the Netherlands is also leading efforts to mobilise the private sector in addressing the global water crisis. The “Water in Business” programme at World Water Week will serve as a platform for collaboration between governments and businesses to advance sustainable water management.
Join the Government of the Netherlands in building a water-secure and sustainable future for all.

Value Creation in the Water-Biodiversity-Food Nexus
Monday 25 August Time: 14:00 - 15:30 Location: On-site workshop (Room 27, Level 2)
How can businesses create value across the food chain while securing water and protecting biodiversity?
This hands-on session will explore real-world solutions from Kenya’s agroforestry and Chile’s WRAP-linked Waterroadmap initiative. Together with ADB, Trust2Impact, WRAP UK, and the Government of the Netherlands, we’ll co-create strategies to scale sustainable water-biodiversity-food solutions in agriculture.
Join us in exploring solutions that address disconnected agendas and sectors working in silos. Let’s unite for a sustainable future—where food systems nourish people and the planet.
Conveners: Government of the Netherlands, Asian Development Bank, Partners for Water, Trust2Impact, WRAP UK, Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries

Water in Business Programme
Monday 25 August, Tuesday 26 August, Wednesday 27 August Time: 14:00-14:30 Location: On-site (Centre Stage, A1, Level 2) and online
The World Water Week's Water in Business programme is a joint initiative by SIWI and the Government of the Netherlands. It hosts a series of conversations that unpack how EU regulations like CSRD, CSDDD, and the Omnibus Act are reshaping corporate water accountability. Hosted by SIWI and the Government of the Netherlands, these centre stage sessions will spotlight how water is becoming central to ESG disclosures and long-term business resilience.
Let’s bridge the gap between finance and water, and use water, data, and transparency for collective climate action.
